Automatic ADABAS Fields Replication

PRESENTATION

Looking for a productivity application maintenance support in CELEPAR resulted in the development of ADACon Plus, in partnership with Converte Informática Ltda.

The ADACon Plus product proceed the automatic fields replication expanding its contents, in ADABAS database files, both in Batch and On-line environments running on IBM or compatible computers (mainframes).

After registering in a control file, both the expanded and original fields are simultaneously updated.
The procedure is executed in a transparent way, releasing source programs update.

Example to use ADACon Plus: Fone numbers expansion (from 7 to 8 digits).

BENEFITS

Instant availability of the new data fields in the data bases. Its valid contents allow a comparisons with the results produced by the normal processing, simplifying the assurance test procedures during expansion of fields in programs

Programs already converted to use expanded fields comes back immediately to the production state, allowing coexistence with programs to be converted, reducing source version control. This eliminates the high risk on the systems reintegrations.

Conversions of critical applications can be done without simultaneous conversions of smaller priority interdependent applications.
